Handcrafted in Skowhegan, Maine, each oven begins with a Le Panyol core made from rare Terre Blanche clay—trusted by chefs and artisans for its unmatched performance. From there, we design and finish every detail by hand.

A Family Tradition, Evolved

Maine Oven Craft is the next chapter in a legacy that began 50 years ago with Maine Wood Heat—a family business that gained national recognition for our commitment to hand-built excellence and Finnish-style masonry heaters.

1970’s

Albie and Cheryl (Kemper) Barden founded Maine Wood Heat.

2005

Scott Barden joined full-time, focusing on evolving the business from nomadic installations to an in-house artisan manufacturing model—designing and building under one roof in Skowhegan, Maine.

2000

We expanded into wood-fired ovens and began our exclusive partnership with Fayol SA, makers of the renowned Le Panyol oven cores from Larnage, France.

2025

We formalized that growth into three complementary brands:

  • Maine Metal Craft – Custom metal fabrication

  • Maine Masonry Craft – Site-built stonework

Maine Oven Craft was started by Maine Wood Heat, a 50-year legacy of masonry heating craftsmanship.

We’re proud to carry that knowledge and artistry through our new brand as a tribute to the hands, homes, and hearths that shaped our foundation.
