Common Ground Country Fair 2026
50th Anniversary
Maine Oven Craft and Maine Metalcraft
Fifty Years at Common Ground, and Still Happy to Be Home
As MOFGA celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Common Ground Country Fair, we’re celebrating our own 50th return. Every year we come back to see old friends, meet new faces, and bring our latest designs along for everyone to see.
This anniversary has us thinking about our own roots, too. Maine Wood Heat, now Maine Oven Craft, has been a small Maine business for 52 years, carried through three generations: from Albie, to Scott, and now to Scott’s children. Our name, our logo, and even our focus have changed along the way. The heart behind the work has not. It’s still good Maine people who build things that hold up, come time, weather, or Mazda. Trust us, you can see it in our work.
This Year’s Fair
The forecast called for rain all weekend, and we packed for it. Instead, Friday and Saturday came in sunny and 70, with a few patchy clouds and a little rain on Sunday. We’ll take it!
Thalia, Scott’s daughter, got her annual flower crown from one of the vendor friends, Billi Barker from Firefly Farm.
We also made a great new friend in a local axe maker, and a collaboration is definitely coming in 2027. If you haven’t already, check out Brant & Cochran LLC at www.bnctools.com.
Scott debuted his newest railing designs, and they were a hit all weekend. Many people stopped to ask us about the designs and how much custom work we are able to do — thank goodness we can do it all!
A little Bump in the Road…
Early one morning that weekend, a good friend of ours accidentally ran over our aluminum cornhole board with a Mazda. The board came out with a few minor scuffs and nothing more (see our slideshow for pictures).
If you ever wonder about the caliber of what we build, that’s your answer!
See You Next Year!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, and made the 50th one to remember. We’ll see you at the next one, and you can find our latest work at www.mainemetalcraft.com.
